WPM/Spacing Options

The WPM/Spacing Options window displays information about the Current Spacing Configuration and allows you to create new Spacing Configurations, and delete existing Spacing Configurations. To open the WPM/Spacing Options window, click the Tools menu, then click the Options menu, and then click the WPM/Spacing tab.

Current Spacing Configuration
The Current Spacing Configuration drop down displays the Current Spacing Configuration. To change the Current Spacing Configuration, click the down arrow, then select a Spacing Configuration.


Creating New Spacing Configurations
To create a new Spacing Configuration, click the "New" button.


Deleting Existing Spacing Configurations
To delete the current Spacing Configuration, click the "Delete" button. You will not be able to delete the current Spacing Configuration if it is the only one left.


Current Spacing Configuration Details

Detail Description
Configuration Type Which of the Spacing Configuration Types this Spacing Configuration is.
Dot Duration The amount of time, in milliseconds, that is used for dots. Morse Code uses dots to represent the short period of sound. The horizontal bar to the right of the Dot Duration represents the Dot Duration relative to the longest duration.
Dash Duration The amount of time, in milliseconds, that is used for dashes. Morse Code uses dashes to represent the long period of sound. The horizontal bar to the right of the Dash Duration represents the Dash Duration relative to the longest duration.
Element Space Duration The amount of time, in milliseconds, that is used for the period of silence between dots and dashes for the same text character. The horizontal bar to the right of the Element Space Duration represents the Element Space Duration relative to the longest duration.
Character Space Duration The amount of time, in milliseconds, that is used for the period of silence between text characters in the same text word. The horizontal bar to the right of the Character Space Duration represents the Character Space Duration relative to the longest duration.
Word Space Duration The amount of time, in milliseconds, that is used for the period of silence between text words. The horizontal bar to the right of the Word Space Duration represents the Word Space Duration relative to the longest duration.
Calculated WPM The WPM based soley on a calculation of the durations. This is useful for Spacing Configurations in which you changed the Configuration Name.
